Meet Yazmin and Ruben

Yazmin and RubenYazmin, a mom of two, was connected to the Mile High United Way Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program when she realized her son Ruben was struggling with a speech delay. HIPPY is a home-based early intervention program that helps parents create experiences for their children that lay the foundation for success in school.

As a mom, Yazmin knew she needed to get her child help and she wouldn’t stop until she found it. Through this connection and support, Yazmin found a community of supportive Mile High United Way HIPPY coaches and parents. Not only that, but she found employment in the Mile High United Way 211 Help Center.

Today, Yazmin and Ruben are thriving. Yazmin is connecting people to basic-need support through 211 and helping other individuals get the help they need. She is pursuing her teaching license and hopes to become a HIPPY coach one day. Ruben is still talking up a storm.
