Bob and Marcia Krane

Marcia and I have been supportive of the United Way concept since 1959 when we moved to Des Moines, Iowa, following four years of service in the U S Army, three of them in Germany. In August, I entered the banking business in Iowa's largest bank as a management trainee. The CEO of the bank invited me to serve as a Loaned Executive to assist in the fall campaign, where I received a thorough, practical education as a United Way Loaned Executive for ninety days. It was a great education and experience for me and, by osmosis, for Marcia.

That led us to become lifelong supporters and contributors to United Way in Des Moines, Omaha, Minneapolis and Denver where my career led us over the years. In each of those communities, I served as a volunteer fundraiser, two as division Chairman, in one as Vice Chairman of the campaign and in three as a member of the U.W. Board of Directors. In 1991 I served as Chairman of the Board of the Mile High United Way. I also served on the Board of a number of United Way Agencies in each city.

In Denver, we became members of the Tocqueville Society and have continued to give annual support at that level since my retirement from banking in 1990. Marcia and I have put in place a legacy gift for Mile High United Way in the form of an insurance policy with United Way as the beneficiary at my death. Our journey over many years with the United Way has been interesting, challenging and personally rewarding in many ways. We invite you to join us in continuing your support with a legacy gift.
